Afternoon activities supervisor

Huvikumpu ry is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated afternoon activities supervisor to complement a lively and sunny work team. Huvikumpu ry organizes after-school activities for basic education in Helsinki, at two locations: Lehtisaari and Kuninkaantammi. A good colleague would be upbeat and proactive. We expect our team to be motivated to guide children in diverse activities, including handicrafts, excursions, and physical exercise. We offer engaging, structured activities for children daily, while allowing time for play and outdoor free time. The work is versatile and rewarding, and we reserve time for planning in monthly and team meetings to ensure quality. The unit is strongly supported by a coordinator and two service providers. The supervisor’s duties include planning, implementing, and guiding after-school activities together with the rest of the team. The role also includes communication and cooperation with schools and parents. We follow a theme-month and weekly-program approach to ensure meaningful and varied programming for children. A key part of our quality after-school activities is free club activities, planned and implemented based on families’ and children’s wishes. In August we organize onboarding days to support new staff, making it easy and enjoyable to start work at Huvikumpu. We care for our staff through Health Clinic and biannual training days. We also arrange social days a few times a year to promote a thriving workplace. Related education/qualifications could include e.g. sports instructor, AMK sports instructor, after-school program supervisor, art therapist, practical nurse, social services student, youth and leisure supervisor. Experience with supporting students with special needs is a plus. The successful candidate must present a criminal record extract required for those working with children.
