Are you interested in working with older people? We are seeking care assistants for Syystien Senior Center in Malmi on a subsidized contract in group homes and day activities. The role includes supportive care and rehabilitation work, helping residents with outdoor activities, assisting with meals, kitchen duties, laundry, accompanying residents to events, and other supportive tasks such as unloading and stocking goods. The work is standing-focused, involves a lot of walking, lifting, bending, and reaching, and the ability to push a wheelchair. Shifts are on weekdays, mornings and/or evenings. We also support work-life balance with the Epassi Flex package including fitness, culture, commuting and wellbeing benefits, with the available balance determined by length of employment. A lunch benefit is also provided. Additional staff benefits include a city bike and access to the city employees' recreation island if desired. Qualifications: sufficient Finnish language skills in speaking and writing, as Finnish is the working language for residents and staff. The position requires vaccination protection under the Communicable Diseases Act sections 48 and 55 for tuberculosis screening. A criminal background check regarding working with older people is required (Act 741/2023, §28). Ongoing requirements: you are a Helsinki resident registered as unemployed and meet one of the following: 15–24 years old, 50 years or older, not having completed matriculation exam, vocational qualification or equivalent foreign secondary education, eligible for the integration plan under the integration act, have not been employed in the previous six months, or unemployed with significantly reduced chances of suitable work due to disability or illness. If you have previously ended a subsidized contract with Helsinki, at least three years must have passed to be eligible again. For eligibility, confirm with the employment services adviser.
