During training you will receive comprehensive orientation to CNC machining tasks and learn the trade practically under the guidance of professionals. The CNC machinist works as a machine operator, programmer and setter in precision metalworking tasks. After training you will be capable of independent work and have a chance to develop your skills as a professional in the field. The training combines theory, practical training and on-the-job learning, mostly at Valtimo, with possible weeks in Outokumpu at the trainer’s facilities. Discussions about training in Outokumpu occur with applicants and the company. The theory/practice portion is about 60–80%, with ~35 hours of study per week; during on-the-job training you will follow the company’s working hours (mainly day shifts) 40 h/week. Those who complete the training successfully will be employed through YES Your Excellent Staff Oy at Valtimo Components Oyj. The key is motivation to work and a desire to learn new skills. The training suits: career changers, people interested in industry, those attracted to technical work, those returning to work life, and those who want to build a career in metal industry. We expect: sufficient Finnish language skills (at least A2), motivation to learn a new profession, precision and careful work, willingness to work in a production environment, and good health suitability for the job tasks. English language ability is a plus. The CNC machining curriculum includes production-required training, machining fundamentals, Fanuc programming basics, company drawings reading, quality requirements, maintenance of machines, metrology and measurement. Every student will have a personal study plan at the start. Application deadline is 30.8.2026 (at latest). Applications will be reviewed during the application period, and the most suitable applicants will be invited for interviews.
