Join us as a colleague in basic education! Finland’s oldest Finnish-language teacher education institution, the university’s other disciplines and other educational institutions train teaching professionals. Many have stayed in Jyväskylä to work, and even more would like to. It is fair to say that the staff at Jyväskylä City’s basic education schools are among the best in the country. In our teaching, wellbeing, participation, an interactive culture and the use of information and communication technology in learning are especially important to us. We are now seeking a HOME ECONOMICS SUBJECT TEACHER for basic education. The position is permanent and starts on 1 January 2027. At the beginning of the civil-service employment relationship, the position will be based at Korpilahti comprehensive school. Its facilities are in good condition; the school building is 17 years old and the recreational facilities are good. Our school is characterised by an energetic atmosphere and a safe everyday environment. There is a real can-do spirit here—it is a pleasure to work with us! Your duties include planning, delivering and assessing home economics teaching; maintaining a safe, practical and community-oriented learning environment; and planning and carrying out purchases of ingredients and supplies. Applicants must attach certificates proving their eligibility. The position requires good interaction, collaboration and group-management skills. We also expect a flexible, solution-focused and development-oriented approach. We value experience as a home economics teacher in basic education and enthusiasm for collaboration across subject boundaries. The terms of employment are determined by the collective agreement for municipal teaching personnel (OVTES). The position-specific salary is €3,168.39–€3,393.61 per month. Any salary supplements under OVTES are paid in addition. The position starts on 1 January 2027, 1 August 2027 or by agreement. Within 30 days of being notified of the selection decision, the successful candidate must provide an acceptable certificate of health and a criminal record extract under the Act on Background Checks for Persons Working with Children (504/2002). The extract must be less than six months old. Applying and further information Apply for the position primarily by completing the application form provided with this vacancy notice.
