Electrical Designer

Electrical Designer Job description We are seeking an ELECTRICAL DESIGNER for our Oulu unit for process electrification design work in process-industry investment projects. In your role, you will work on projects as an expert in process electrification and/or electrical distribution and be responsible for the design of your own area of responsibility to the project lead designer or project manager. Depending on your previous work experience, you may also act as lead designer. The detailed job description will be determined according to your previous work experience. Your duties may include: - Acting as an electrical expert in industrial preliminary and detailed design projects - Designing electrical distribution and process electrification in the process industry - Sizing electrical systems and preparing technical and equipment specifications - Sizing and specifying transformers and main and distribution switchboards - Preparing single-line and circuit diagrams - Preparing cost estimates for investment projects - Technical cooperation with clients, equipment suppliers and other design disciplines - Participating in expert tasks during testing and commissioning as needed Qualifications The person we are looking for has: - Relevant education for the role (electrical power or electrical engineering, engineer or M.Sc. level) - A few years of work experience in process-industry electrification, either in design or maintenance - Understanding of database-based design and a 3D design environment - An active approach to work and adaptability to a fast-paced project environment Skills and tools: - Knowledge of key electrical standards - Experience with electrical engineering documentation - Experience with design software, for example AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical, ProElina, EPLAN or equivalent - Experience with electrical network calculation software such as ETAP, Neplan or equivalent network calculation and analysis tools is an advantage - Previous experience with equipment or design for 20 kV electrical distribution networks - Previous experience with database-based design systems is an advantage - Good collaboration and communication skills and the ability to work in multidisciplinary project environments We hope you have an understanding of industrial electrical distribution and process electrification, and the related electrical systems and equipment, such as: - Main and distribution transformers - Medium- and low-voltage switchgear - Frequency converters - UPS systems - Backup power systems - Electrical distribution protection and reliability solutions - Cabling solutions and sizing Company description AFRY is one of Europe's leading engineering and consulting companies, accelerating the transition towards a sustainable society.
