About the role

Are you an expert in the rights of clients and patients who wants to do meaningful work regarding the legal protection and safety of clients and patients? We are looking for a Social and Patient Ombudsman to strengthen the expert activities of the patient safety team - could it be you? In the Western Uusimaa wellbeing services county, you will work in the quality and patient safety responsible unit within the administrative area of responsibility, in the patient safety team. The responsible unit supports the entire organization in developing client and patient safety and quality. In this position, you will have a broad influence on the realization of client and patient rights and bring a client perspective to the development of services. As a Social and Patient Ombudsman, you will act in an expert role promoting the rights of clients and patients in accordance with the law (Act on Social and Patient Ombudsmen 739/2023). The task is expert work focused on client work and does not include administrative decision-making. Your duties include: - advising clients and patients on matters related to their rights (Patient Act 785/1992, Client Act 812/2000, Early Childhood Education Act 540/2018) - assisting in making reminders if necessary - advising on the use of legal remedies (e.g., complaint, request for rectification, appeal, claim for damages) - monitoring the development of the rights and status of clients and patients, collecting information on it, and participating in the preparation of the annual report - informing and promoting the realization of client and patient rights - cooperating with services, authorities, and stakeholders You will succeed in the position if you have: - good knowledge of the social and health care and early childhood education service systems and legislation - the ability to meet clients and patients in various situations professionally and empathetically - clear communication and interaction skills and presentation abilities, as well as fluent customer service skills in written and spoken Finnish and Swedish - readiness for independent work and planning your own work - good cooperation and teamwork skills, as well as a development-oriented approach and interest in patient safety work Eligibility Requirements An appropriate higher education degree and knowledge of the field (Act on Social and Patient Ombudsmen 739/2023).
