About the role

We invite you to Tiistilä Daycare in Espoo to build positive and inclusive early childhood education. We are seeking a temporary language and culture teacher in early childhood education for our daycare. In this role you will promote children's linguistic development, multilingualism, cultural inclusion, and equality in collaboration with staff and families. Our daycare consists of eight groups; we have involved children and families in naming the new premises and group areas. The successful candidate will work as part of a capable team, with strong professional expertise and a shared understanding of meaningful early childhood education. We offer a mentoring program to support your start as an early childhood education teacher, helping you get acquainted with Espoo’s early childhood education and identify your strengths. You will participate in discussions with an experienced mentor about early-career joys and challenges and meet peers starting their careers in early childhood education. Your duties include acting as an expert in linguistically and culturally informed early childhood education, planning, implementing, documenting, evaluating, and developing the field, and you will also be part of the unit’s leadership team. The role involves close collaboration with the principal and vice-principal. The workplace is Tiistilän Daycare, Tiistilänkuja 4, 02230 Espoo. Working time is 38 h 15 min per week. The position is temporary from 01.10.2026 to 30.06.2027. We review applications during the recruitment period, and selection will be made as soon as a suitable candidate is found. This job is accessible for people with disabilities. Qualifications: The relevant qualification under Varhaiskasvatuslaki (540/2018). A Bachelor’s degree in education with training as an early childhood teacher, or a degree in social and health care (varhaiskasvatus) from a higher education institution, or an equivalent earlier degree, such as kindergarten teacher or social educator. Applicants who are just graduating are welcome. Requirements include ability to share linguistically and culturally informed early childhood education expertise, apply knowledge of child development by age level, familiarity with early childhood education and pre-primary education curricula, and strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. A criminal record extract as required by law must be presented. The infectious-disease act requires assessing tuberculosis exposure risk for staff working with under-6s.
