The job is paid work under private social services sector collective agreement and suits someone seeking full-time, part-time, occasional, or gig work. As a personal assistant you decide how much and when you work, so the job also fits alongside another job or studies. No special training is required for the assistant job; the right attitude and reliability are the most important qualities of an excellent personal assistant. At Aarre Avustajat you receive ongoing support and guidance from your own contact person, and you will never be left to deal with matters or questions alone, we promise. WHAT IS PERSONAL ASSISTANCE AND WHAT DOES AN ASSISTANT DO? Personal assistance is a service where the personal assistant acts as the hands and feet of the client, carrying out tasks the client would do themselves, but which they cannot do alone due to disability or illness. The purpose is to help the client with everyday tasks at home and outside the home. Tasks are often ordinary household chores that we all do in our daily lives. The duties do not include tasks that require a specialized qualification such as a practical nurse, and anyone can work as an assistant. Examples of assistant duties include helping the client shop, go for walks, eat, or cook, dress, participate in hobbies, or perform domestic tasks. WHAT KIND OF PERSON IS SUITABLE AS AN ASSISTANT? We, as the employer of many personal assistants, have found that people with the right attitude to this important care work fit best. The assistant should be reliable, positive, helpful, diligent and people-oriented. Previous work experience is not required, as every new assistant will be trained in our own Aarre Academy before starting work. Experience or education in caregiving or home care can be beneficial for some clients. WHAT ARE THE SHIFTS LIKE AND CAN I INFLUENCE THEM? Personal assistance is a service that takes place on weekdays and weekends, and shifts are often available from morning to evening. At Aarre Avustajat you can influence how much and when you want to work, and for which client. We aim to match our clients’ assistant needs with the work wishes of our assistants so that it works for everyone. You will always have the opportunity to meet a potential new client before the relationship begins, and if something does not work as you expected, we can find a suitable alternative together.
