We are seeking a substitute History and Social Studies teacher for Merenkurkun School in Vaasa, for the period 14 September 2026 – 4 June 2027. Merenkurkun School is a ~440-student middle school located in Vaasa city center. The school provides general education as well as Swedish-language baptismal instruction, bilingual (Finnish-English) instruction, and flexible basic education. The substitute teacher will teach History and Social Studies at the middle school level in Finnish for grades 7–9. Qualification required is eligibility under Decree 986/1998. If qualified candidates are not available, other applicants will be considered. Proficiency in Finnish language (written and spoken) is required. We value diverse teaching methods and strong knowledge of the curriculum. You should be prepared to plan, develop and implement instruction and other school activities in collaboration with others. Understanding of diverse learners is essential for success. We also value experience teaching at the upper primary/secondary level and up-to-date ICT skills in teaching.
