Language Teacher

Kittilä municipality is seeking a temporary substitute language teacher for upper secondary school and high school for the period 7 September 2026 to 6 February 2027. The main language taught is English. Swedish language qualification is considered an asset. We are looking for a cooperative and interactive language teacher. We offer an engaging role with young people and support from the school community. In Kittilä the upper secondary school has about 200 students and the high school about 120. The school provides modern, curriculum-based language teaching. Requirements include strong pedagogical skills and mastery of Swedish and English, willingness to work in a team, and ability to differentiate instruction. Additionally, readiness to develop own skills and contribute to school community development and ability to teach a third language (French, Spanish or Italian). Qualifications are determined by the Decree on Qualifications of the Teaching Personnel (986/1998). The selected must have Swedish and English teaching qualifications. Original certificates must be presented at the interview. Salary according to the Municipal Education Sector collective agreement (OVTES). Before taking the position, the candidate must provide a valid medical certificate, drug test, and a copy of the criminal record as required by law. Six-month probation applies.
