Senior UX Designer

Would you like to combine your strong UX expertise in digital services with client projects and influence how design is done and developed in the future? We are looking for an experienced Senior UX Designer for Karhu Helsinki to strengthen our digital services design expertise. You will work on demanding client projects, take overall responsibility for UX design and digital service concept development, and develop Karhu’s design practices and expertise amid a changing market and industry transformation. In this role, you are not a manager, but a guide and sounding board for design. The role combines hands-on design, user insight, the client’s business objectives, and decision-making based on research and data. What will you get to do? You will work on a wide range of digital services, websites, and online stores. You will independently take responsibility for concept-level design and UX design and move projects forward purposefully. You will consult clients with a commercial approach and work naturally at the client interface. Your responsibilities include: • Taking responsibility for UX design and independently moving design projects forward • Combining user needs and clients’ business objectives into effective digital solutions • Working closely with clients and facilitating workshops • Mentoring other designers and developing shared practices • Contributing ideas to the development of design and expertise • Using your expertise to help commercialise design services and support sales What do we hope for from you? We are looking for an experienced and perceptive digital design professional who enjoys hands-on design work and also wants to develop the work around them. We hope you have: • Strong experience in UX design and digital services, preferably around five years or more • Experience with demanding digital projects • The ability to combine user experience with business objectives • Strong client, interaction, and consulting skills • Experience facilitating workshops • The ability to justify and present your design solutions convincingly • A desire to mentor others and develop shared practices • Good Figma skills • Fluent Finnish and readiness to work in English as well Your background may be in an agency or an in-house environment. What matters most is strong digital design expertise, seniority, and the ability to take independent ownership of projects. WordPress or Drupal experience is an advantage. We also value a curious approach to the possibilities of AI in developing digital services and design. What do we offer?
