We are seeking a youth home instructor for a permanent position starting September 14, 2026. Hovila Youth Home is an 8-place child welfare institution located in Keljo, Jyväskylä. Hovila Youth Home operates two units: a 5-place high-demand unit and a 3-place special care unit (EHO). Both units handle the most challenging child welfare cases. The high-demand unit provides substitute care in accordance with the Child Welfare Act for children over 12 years of age for whom the support provided by basic or special-level child welfare units is insufficient, and whose behavioral issues require intensive and long-term rehabilitation and support, as well as multidisciplinary cooperation to arrange substitute care. As a youth home instructor, you will work the night shift in the 5-place high-demand unit. At Hovila Youth Home, we work with placed children in a multidisciplinary team and with various networks. The work involves rehabilitative guidance of children's daily lives, assessment of support needs, and care. We work closely with the parents, guardians, and other close networks of the placed child. We are looking for a motivated professional with the ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to changing situations. We are seeking a positive, proactive colleague with good teamwork skills. As a permanent night-shift instructor, you will work with a partner during the nights in the high-demand unit. Your task is to create a safe atmosphere so that every young person gets a peaceful night's sleep. Your work is demanding interaction, assessment, and stabilization work. You are responsible for the well-being, safety, and proper supervision of the youth. You must have the ability to act in changing, sudden, and unexpected situations during the night. Night work also involves maintaining a calm and pleasant night environment through small home-care tasks. We will assign you your own mentor. However, as a whole, the entire team will ensure that you integrate into our group. Orientation is planned according to your expertise. We understand that life situations vary, and therefore personal needs are taken into account in work shifts. We would be happy to discuss with you what kind of work-life flexibility you would need to combine work and leisure. Position-specific salary €3,015.06/month. In addition to the position-specific salary, we pay a work experience supplement of 3% for 5 years and 8% for 10 years. Please also note the good working conditions of the public sector, for example, regarding vacation days. The accumulation of vacation days is determined by your work experience - the more experience, the more earned vacation days. We require membership in the central register of social and health care professionals. We value: - A confident working approach in child welfare institutional care - Experience in night work - Expertise and experience in working with a high-demand client group - Possible additional training, for example, in mental health and substance abuse work - Calm and confident interaction skills and stress tolerance The position requires up-to-date medication administration skills according to the medication plan or completion of such training at the start of employment. Additionally, we require suitability according to Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act (chickenpox and measles). The employer determines the need for influenza and pertussis vaccinations. The terms of employment are determined in accordance with the Social and Health Care Sector Collective Agreement (SOTE agreement). A probationary period applies to the position. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract in accordance with Section 6 of the Criminal Records Act (working with children). Interviews are planned to be held in week 35.
