Healthcare Assistant

We are seeking a substitute caregiver for central region elderly housing services for a fixed-term contract until 31 December 2026. The substitute unit supports care and welfare units in covering short and sudden absences. As a substitute, you will work flexibly in different units, and your duties will be determined by the units’ operations. The position is primarily located in Jyväskylä region elder housing units. When service needs change, work may expand to other service areas. Shifts for substitutes are planned in advance, and units book staff according to their needs. Each substitute is assigned the areas and units where they will work after training. Training is a core part of starting, planned individually based on your skills and needs. The job is a two-shift, swing-hour schedule. A car is required for this role. The work is varied, and every day is different. It offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills across units. In addition to base pay, we pay 3% over 5 years of service and 8% over 10 years of service as experience-based allowances. Also note good public sector terms for vacation days. Qualifications include a caregiver diploma or a corresponding vocational qualification. We require registration in the professional registers (social- and health-care registers). An up-to-date medication management competence or completion at the start of employment is required, as well as eligibility in accordance with the Infectious Diseases Act. Vaccinations for influenza and whooping cough are determined by the employer. A criminal background check is required for those working with the elderly or disabled.
