Mathematics and Chemistry Teacher

Alavuden kaupungin sivistyspalvelut seeks a full-time substitute teacher for Alavuden High School for the period 19 October 2026 to 5 June 2027. Subjects taught will be mathematics and chemistry. The role may include supervising a class. The high school serves around three hundred students in grades 7–9, located in central Alavus. In the same campus area are Kirkkomäen primary school and Alavuden lukio. Nearby facilities include sports fields, gym, swimming pool, ice rink and diverse sports grounds. Our school emphasises collaborative work; about 40 subject teachers, two special education teachers, student guidance staff, secretary, cleaners, kitchen staff, janitor, health nurse, school welfare officer and school psychologist form the multi-disciplinary team. The school runs flexible basic education programs (Jopo) and a child-protection-linked Jopo unit. We participate in Liikkuva koulu and KiVa-koulu programs. Qualification requirements follow the degrees set out in the Decree 986/1998 on education personnel. Selection is conditional on providing a valid medical certificate and presenting a criminal-record extract (as per decree 504/2002) within 30 days of notification of the decision. A three-month probation applies after the appointment. Salary is in accordance with OVTES.
