Healthcare Assistant

We are seeking a substitute healthcare assistant for the Ostrobothnian Welfare Department for Präntöön Helmi in Vaasa. The temporary placement is at the elderly residential unit Präntöön Helmi Palosaari in Vaasa, starting 9 October 2026 and ending 21 June 2027. Präntöön Helmi provides housing for older adults who need round-the-clock assistance and guidance with daily activities. The home is a place to live and engage in meaningful activities that support holistic well-being. Our approach is to offer residents a high-quality, person-centered, safe life and a lively everyday. We are now looking for a development-minded, positive and skilled caregiver who can support residents’ own resources and promote their functional ability. The job is three-shift work. Your primary task as a caregiver is to care for residents’ well-being and to support their own resources and promote their functioning. You will be involved in a versatile and lively daily life of the elderly. You are reliable, responsible and motivated to work with the elderly. Possession of an active medication administration licence and a hygiene passport, as well as sufficient vaccination protection, are considered advantageous. We value first aid skills (EA I and EA II). Interviewees should bring original certificates of education and work certificates. Eligibility: Lähihoitajan tutkinto or a degree under the Decree on healthcare professionals (564/1994) or the Government Decree on social care professionals (153/2016). Proficient spoken and written skills in both national languages. Those who have completed Lähihoitajatutkinto must register in both professional registers (Terhikki and Suosikki). The selected candidate must have vaccination protection under the Infectious Diseases Act (1227/2016) 48 § and present a criminal record extract as per the Criminal Records Act 6 § 2 mom. Trial period applies.
