About the role

Take on the role of a Social Worker in the northern area of HUS Children’s Psychiatry at the Tikkurila clinic. We are seeking a social worker as a maternity leave replacement for the research, assessment and consultation unit, starting 7 September or by agreement. The unit conducts psychiatric assessments for children aged 6–12. The social worker works in a multidisciplinary team with the child’s parents, family and network. The client families mainly come from the Vantaa-Kerava welfare area. The unit is located in Tikkurila, Vantaa, in connection with the Dixie shopping centre, where the social worker has a comfortable workspace. Responsibilities include family assessment and psychosocial parental support, as well as guidance on social security and social services. The role emphasises evaluation, consultation and network collaboration especially with child and family services, child protection and disability services. The northern area’s child psychiatry team includes professionals from several fields; the social work team comprises three social workers and a social welfare assistant. The immediate supervisor is the lead social worker, so you will not be alone. We have a supportive and encouraging work climate. The lead social worker and a local mentor will be available to support you with low threshold access. The job is interesting and engaging. As a university hospital, HUS provides good opportunities for training and professional development. There is a strong opportunity to gain expertise and train in family-focused working methods. HUS internal training in child psychiatry occurs almost weekly. HUS supports professional continued education (up to 14 paid training days per year). In addition, HUS benefits include e-pass with sport and culture benefits and HUS also provides company housing and other employee benefits. We hope you have an interest in working with families and a development-oriented mindset. Experience in child/family social work and/or health and social services is a plus. The role requires independence and flexibility, and the ability to work as part of a team. Knowledge of the child and family services system is needed for the position. The role starts on 7 September 2026 or by agreement. For a licensed social worker, the salary is 4193.07–4402.72 euros depending on experience and responsibilities. An additional pay supplement is paid on top of the base salary. After the familiarisation period, part-time remote work is possible up to 1–2 days per week depending on operating conditions. Please send your application as soon as possible; when a suitable licensed candidate is found, the vacancy may be filled before the application deadline.
