What You’ll Do As a Sales Engineer at Black Duck, you will guide customers to success across three key areas: Technical Sales Partnership Build strong relationships with prospective customers by understanding their technical and business needs Deliver compelling product presentations, demonstrations, and proof-of-concepts Clearly articulate the value of Black Duck solutions in addressing security, quality, and compliance challenges Technical Account Engagement Support customers throughout their journey, driving successful adoption and long-term satisfaction Partner with customers to plan and scale deployments across enterprise environments Ensure a seamless transition from evaluation to implementation Thought Leadership Represent Black Duck at industry events, conferences, and seminars Engage with customers, prospects, and peers on the latest trends in application security Contribute to technical communities, forums, and customer knowledge-sharing initiatives What You Bring Hands-on software development experience in one or more of the following: C/C++, Java, C#, Objective-C Experience with scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, Ruby, or Perl Prior experience in customer-facing roles (e.g., Sales Engineer, Consultant, Technical Support, or similar) Strong understanding of SDLC, including Agile and CI/CD practices Familiarity with application security, software quality, and security tools (Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CSSLP are a plus) A customer-first mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Ability to travel within Japan for customer engagements, as needed Excellent communication skills with native-level Japanese and professional proficiency in English Why Black Duck?
