About the role

Talvisalo School's Heikinpohja site provides education for grades 1-6 in basic and special education classes. Talvisalo School is a team-organized school where the school is developed together with a solution-oriented approach. Operations are based on inclusion, genuine presence, and positive interaction. Using positive and strength-based pedagogy, students are provided with an environment, tools, and presence to help them strengthen their own well-being. The school has strong expertise in supporting student learning, flexible teaching arrangements, and multidisciplinary student welfare work. Anti-bullying activities are a central part of the school's daily life. We are seeking school assistants for fixed-term employment from 17.8.2026 to 4.6.2027; School Assistant, 24h/week - VAATU (demanding multidisciplinary support) group School Assistant, 22h/week - VAATU (demanding multidisciplinary support) group As a school assistant, you will support students in their learning and support their daily lives during breaks and other joint school activities, creating a safe and encouraging learning environment. Cooperation and teamwork skills are central to the role, as you will work in close collaboration with teachers, other assistants, and student welfare staff across both primary and lower secondary levels. We expect experience working with children of different ages and the ability to cooperate with teachers and other school staff. Eligibility requirement is a vocational qualification, e.g., a degree as a school assistant, morning and afternoon activity instructor, or practical nurse (field of education and care for children and youth), or another degree suitable for the position. Experience working with students requiring special support is considered an advantage. Position-specific level salary: €2,428.12, salary is paid in proportion to the working hours percentage. Other terms of remuneration and employment: KVTES Probationary period: four (4) months Duration of employment: 17.8.2026-4.6.2027 (employment may end earlier if the student-specific need for support ceases) Upon termination of employment, the salary and other dues falling due at that time will be paid on the next normal payday. The employer does not offer work during school breaks (September, Christmas, and Easter holidays). The selected person must present a criminal record extract in accordance with Section 3 of the Act on the Checking of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children (504/2002).
