About the role

We are looking for a SEM-EDS-EBSD Applications Scientist to join our Application Team. The role is based in Bangkok, Thailand, with frequent travel to customers across Southeast Asia. The primary purpose of the Applications Scientist is to serve as an expert, providing technical expertise and support to both internal teams (Sales and Marketing) and external clients (customers and prospective customers). Key responsibilities: Business Development & Sales Support - Key-account Customer Engagement: Identify and engage with key customer accounts to understand their analytical requirements. - Sales & Lead Management: Follow up on new inquiries, providing pre-sales experimental consultation. - OEM & Distributor Training Program: Develop and adapt training programs. - Marketing Support: Attend promotional events, workshops, seminars, and exhibitions. - Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and distributor partners. - Demonstration Stock Oversight: Oversee demonstration and loan stock. Technical Expertise & Application Development - Customer Demonstrations & Reporting: Conduct demonstrations, workshops, and seminars; produce application reports. - Application & Product Support: Provide expert support to sales and service teams; interpret competitor claims. - Customer Technical Support: Offer support via phone, email, WhatsApp and Line. - Innovation & Documentation: Develop new applications and author technical notes or scientific journal articles. - Product Enhancement: Suggest product enhancements and report bugs. - Cross-Instrument Applications: Develop correlative applications with FIB, TEM, Raman, Nanoindentation, AFM. General & Operational - Continuous Learning: Expand knowledge of assigned products. - Professional Development: Participate in required training. - Flexible Support: Undertake other reasonable tasks as required. Job Requirement Education: PhD Degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, or Geology & Minerology Science. Experience – Electron Microscopy & Microanalysis: - Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in microstructural characterization using SEM, EDS, and EBSD - Minimum 3 year of hands-on experience in Dual Beam (FIB) - Experience with TEM is considered an advantage Preferred Technical Background: - Mechanical testing (nanoindentation, fatigue, fracture analysis) - AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy) - Raman spectroscopy, Raman imaging or Raman microscopy Programming and PC skills: - Familiar with MS Office - Basic programming capability by Python or C/C++ is preferred Personal Attributes: - Fast learner, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, customer-oriented mindset, self-motivated. Travel Requirement: Ability to travel internationally up to 50% of the working time. Language Proficiency: - Native Thai speaker is strongly preferred - Fluent in English (spoken and written) is mandatory - Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin), Malay, and Vietnamese is a significant advantage.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in Dual Beam (FIB)
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 50% of the working time
