Class teacher substitutes

Sastamala's basic education services are seeking class teachers for short-term substitute assignments according to schools’ needs for the 2026–2027 school year. Assignments last from one day to a few weeks, and substitutes are needed throughout the year. By registering as a substitute, you can influence when and at which school you are available. Please note that even short-term assignments can be a route to longer substitute assignments. Some longer assignments and fixed-term positions are advertised separately on Kuntarekry and the TE Office website. Sastamala City provides basic education for grades 1–6 at eleven primary schools and one comprehensive school. We expect substitutes to have: - An enthusiastic and capable pedagogical approach - The willingness and ability to work well with pupils, families and the school community - Good Finnish skills. Substitutes must communicate in Finnish with colleagues, pupils and their guardians. - The age of 18 or over - The qualifications required for the teaching post, as determined by Decree 986/1998 on the qualification requirements for teaching personnel. Teacher students and people planning to become teachers may also apply. At the employer’s discretion, other people suitable for substitute work may also be accepted. Pay and terms of employment are determined according to OVTES. If requested, the substitute must present a criminal record extract under the Act on checking the criminal background of persons working with children (504/2002). Register as a substitute by completing the online application at www.kuntarekry.fi. Attach degree certificates and any certificates of equivalence and recognition decisions to your application. Keeping your contact and availability details up to date is a prerequisite for being offered substitute assignments. Remember to update your application when needed. After you have submitted your application, we will contact you to arrange a possible interview. Bring identification and the original copies of your degree and employment certificates to the interview. This is an ongoing application for short-term substitute assignments, and no separate administrative decision is made for these assignments. Welcome to work with us!
