As a personal assistant, you help our clients live full lives on their own terms. Onni’s clients are people who need help with everyday tasks because of illness or disability. You assist with tasks at home and activities outside the home. Client situations and levels of support vary, and duties are always determined by the client’s condition and individual support needs. The work is varied and can, if you wish, include several clients and tasks on the same day. You do not need relevant education or previous experience; what matters is the right attitude toward assistance work, willingness to learn, and a client-oriented approach in different situations. All our new assistants receive comprehensive training at Onni’s own Avustaja Akatemia before starting work, and training continues during employment as needed. You receive ongoing guidance and support from your team supervisor and will not be left alone with questions or possible work-related challenges. Work is generally performed in two shifts on weekdays and weekends. Shifts last from two hours upward, and a workday may consist of one or more clients. You can influence your shifts and work part-time or on a casual basis in the way that best suits your circumstances. We take both our clients’ assistance needs and our assistants’ work preferences into account and match them as well as possible. The first shift with a client can be an orientation shift if needed. After that, both the assistant and client can assess, among other things, how well the cooperation and personal compatibility work. If something later concerns you or does not work as planned, we will discuss it together and find a suitable solution. If you wish, you can work for several Onni clients when schedules can be coordinated.
