As a speech and language therapist, you will work at the Expert and Development Center (EUC), the Swedish-language expert unit for demanding disability services within the Varsinais-Suomi Welfare Region. The unit is located in Kirjala, Parainen, and serves people of all ages with intellectual disabilities and/or other disabilities, their families, and professionals. You will conduct speech-language assessments, evaluate language, speech, communication, and swallowing, and prepare Swedish-language statements for rehabilitation plans in the Varsinais-Suomi region. Some work is performed in Finnish at the Finnish-language unit in Paimio. Your tasks include delivering continuing education and lectures to other professionals, and participating in multidisciplinary client work within the crisis, assessment, and rehabilitation unit KUR and the especially demanding housing unit Kojan. Travel is required for assessment visits, and consultants have a company car for these trips. You will work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team with social workers, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, music therapists, neuropsychiatry instructors, and a doctor. We offer flexible hours and the possibility of remote work when tasks permit. We expect you to have good collaboration and communication skills and to contribute your expertise to multidisciplinary work. Because there are Swedish- and Finnish-language client contacts, you must be able to work in both languages. Eligibility requires a licensed speech-language therapist credential in accordance with the Health Care Professionals Act (559/1994). If no applicants meet the language and qualification requirements, a candidate with foreign credentials may be admitted for an adaptation period. Students of speech therapy may also be considered if all clinical courses, including long clinical training, have been completed.
