General Practitioner

We are seeking a permanent civil service physician for Sampoharju (Vaajakoski) Health Centre. Sampoharju Health Centre is located in Vaajakoski, about 5 km from Jyväskylä city center. The health centre operates in facilities completed in 2019, with reception rooms and bright, modern back-office spaces. The centre houses a laboratory, infant welfare clinic, dental clinic, and a mental health unit. Consulting with more experienced colleagues is easy and straightforward. Sampoharju has 10 physician posts, and the regional population is about 16,000 residents. Outpatient work includes both urgent and non-urgent consultations and regional work according to agreement or based on interest and expertise (child health, school and student health, elderly or care-home work for the developmentally disabled). The job includes urgent after-hours work in evenings and weekends, but the amount is moderate and daytime work can be lightened after the emergency department. Outpatient work relies on multidisciplinary collaboration. Sampoharju Social and Health Centre will move to a continuity-of-care model in 2026, where each resident is assigned their own doctor/own team. The model is being developed, so there is a great opportunity to participate in development and promote continuity and impact of care! We are a education-friendly organization and invest in a good working atmosphere. In Central Finland we also have a broad trainer and supervisor network and strong senior support. YEK phase and YLE specialists supervision is conducted according to university criteria. The role can be tailored to your interests and expertise within our welfare region. Part-time work is possible, as is a certain amount of remote work. The starting salary for a health centre physician is €7,675.00 per month, plus possible extras. In Finland, the legal requirement is a licensed physician. We require good Finnish language skills. An advantage is a specialization as a specialist physician or other specialist training relevant to the role. We expect the candidate to have multidisciplinary collaboration skills with all professionals at the malattia-centri. Terms of employment are governed by the medical doctors’ collective agreement. A probationary period applies and a health examination must be provided. We require vaccination against varicella (chickenpox) and measles.
