The City of Vantaa is seeking a Class Teacher to serve as a music class teacher at Martinlaakso School. Martinlaakso School is a comprehensive school for grades 1-9 with approximately 1,000 students and 130 staff members. The school operates in a modern building with up-to-date teaching equipment and a diverse surrounding environment that supports learning and movement. The school aims to be pedagogically unified, where class teaching and subject teaching are closely integrated to provide students with a seamless educational path from first grade through the end of basic education. The school follows the ProKoulu operating model, focusing on common goals and positive feedback to guide student behavior; commitment to this model is required. Responsibilities include planning and implementing teaching that accommodates learners of different levels, utilizing diverse teaching methods, and demonstrating multicultural sensitivity to support students from various linguistic and cultural backgrounds, including S2 (Finnish as a second language) needs. The role requires strong interaction and cooperation skills to build trusting relationships with students and guardians, as well as active participation in the team. The teacher is expected to support students' overall well-being and be flexible and solution-oriented in changing situations. Offering modern learning spaces, up-to-date tools, and a supportive community with teacher mentors. A salary supplement of approximately 250 EUR/month may be paid to qualified staff based on the number of S2 students. The position is a fixed-term official relationship from August 13, 2026, to July 31, 2027.

Requirements

- Understanding of S2 teaching needs
- Strong interaction and cooperation skills
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students and guardians
- Commitment to the ProKoulu operating model
- Valid criminal record extract
- Willingness to teach lower grade music to other groups if needed (preferred)
