Sound Engineer

Are you interested in helping create an exciting Helsinki? Join us as an excellent Sound Engineer! Savoy Theatre is a high-quality international visiting theatre in central Helsinki. We are hiring for a permanent position starting on 8 December 2026 or as agreed. You will work as a member of Savoy Theatre’s technical team. You have professional experience in concert, theatre and event work, as well as broad knowledge of sound and lighting technology. The work focuses on sound technology, so we require excellent command of different auditorium sound systems and knowledge of the related technology. You will take part in planning purchases of theatre technical equipment together with team members and supervisors. We expect a positive attitude to work and the ability to take initiative. Events and customers at Savoy Theatre change almost daily, making strong customer-service and problem-solving skills important. To succeed, you need to be familiar with various computer programs (Smaart/Systune, QLab, Wavetool, etc.) and understand conference technology and projection. In addition to in-depth sound-technology expertise, you know the basics of stage and lighting technology and can take care of occupational and customer safety. The work is organized in two shifts, with events concentrated in the evenings and at weekends. The role also includes day shifts. The position requires a relevant higher education degree or at least five years of experience in demanding work in the field: sound design and operation in both concert and theatre environments. Our working languages are Finnish and English, and professional terminology in the field must be mastered in both languages. The role also requires: • Solid experience with digital mixing consoles, both FOH and monitor mixing, including in-ear monitoring • Experience managing networked sound systems, signal transmission, patching and the basics of system documentation • Experience using wireless microphone and IEM systems and frequency coordination • Experience with cue-based show operation and cue playback systems (e.g. QLab), microphone fitting for performers, and smooth use of intercom during performances • Ability to read music • Ability to light small-scale events such as meetings and seminars Broad experience across several music genres, versatile customer-service skills and experience working with touring groups are considered an advantage.
