Buyer 1 leads purchasing activities during the lifecycle of vehicle programs, coordinating sourcing strategies, supplier management and cost reduction. Acts as a key liaison between Product Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and suppliers to ensure cost, quality, launch timing, localization and profitability targets. A day in the life: lead purchasing activities for assigned vehicle programs throughout their lifecycle. Develop and track procurement plans aligned to vehicle development milestones. Monitor sourcing status, supplier readiness, tooling progress and program risks to ensure successful launches. Define and implement sourcing strategies for parts and production systems in coordination with commodity buyers. Coordinate supplier selection and evaluation processes considering quality, cost, delivery, technology and capacity. Manage supplier relationships and address escalations that may affect timelines or outcomes. Establish cost targets and ensure compliance via negotiations, value engineering, benchmarking and design optimization. Analyze financial impact of engineering changes, capacity adjustments, localization projects and market conditions. Coordinate issue resolution related to capacity, quality, logistics and commercial aspects. Lead launch readiness reviews and support mass production. Identify, evaluate and mitigate risks related to suppliers, logistics, quality, tooling and program timing. Develop contingency plans to ensure supply continuity across development and launch phases. Perform benchmarking to identify cost-saving opportunities, technological improvements and supply chain optimization. Drive continuous improvement, best practices and collaboration with suppliers to increase competitiveness and profitability. What we are looking for: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related fields. Master’s desirable. More than 2 years of experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Program Management, Engineering or Automotive Manufacturing. Experience in new product development, vehicle launches or automotive project management. Experience in negotiations and supplier management. Strong project management skills. Knowledge of product development and sourcing processes in automotive industry. Negotiation and strategic supplier management. Financial and cost analysis ability. Risk assessment and problem-solving skills. Cross-functional leadership and effective communication with multidisciplinary teams. Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and project management tools.
