General Practitioner

The Helsinki City maternity and child health clinics employ full-time physicians alongside health center physicians. The physician’s duties include health examinations, follow-up visits, consultations, multidisciplinary consultations and expert tasks. The main focus is on child health clinic age-specific examinations. When planning the role, consideration can be given to a desire to work in maternity and/or child health clinics. Part of the working time may also be performed as a physician in school and student health care, and the work can also be combined with health center work. The maternity and child health clinics collaborate with public health nurses and other professionals at family centers. The colleague can be easily consulted and the orientation is planned according to individual needs, taking into account previous work experience. The working hours are 38.25 hours per week. In the maternity and child health clinic, work is done in extended opening hours, with 1–2 evening shifts per month for a single doctor, the workday starting later and ending at 19:00. During the evening shift, 2–3 doctors work in the clinic at the same time. Most of the time, the work is between 08:00 and 16:00.
