Electrical Substation Expert

Fingrid plays a key role in achieving Finland’s climate targets. The company plans to invest about five billion euros in the grid over the next ten years to ensure renewable energy remains accessible to consumers. We are seeking a permanent position in the Grid Condition Monitoring unit in Jyväskylä or Vaasa to fill the role of Electrical Substation Expert. The expert will be responsible for condition monitoring of substations in the Keski-Pohjanmaa region, participate in construction supervision, planning, commissioning, and post-commissioning maintenance, and will travel domestically about 30–50 days per year. You will join Fingrid’s network condition monitoring unit, collaborating with service providers and internal stakeholders to ensure an uninterrupted electricity system. The role requires experience of at least two years in distribution networks or industrial substations, understanding of condition monitoring, project work experience, knowledge of electricity transmission and related standards, systematic and proactive work style, and good communication and cooperation skills. Travel within Finland is required. A suitable educational background such as electrical or automation technology technician or engineer is expected, and fluent Finnish and English are required. Experience with asset or maintenance management systems (e.g., Maximo) is a plus, as is knowledge of rotating machinery and field equipment.
