In the Lapland wellbeing region you will become part of a close-knit work community where roles are performed without emphasis on titles and by pulling together. The Lapland wellbeing region’s social and crisis on-call unit provides around-the-clock urgent social services and psychosocial support to residents and stay-in persons in the area. We are seeking a social worker for a permanent position starting 1 November 2026 to the southern service area’s social and crisis on-call unit. The unit is located in Kemi. As a social worker you will be responsible for providing urgent psychosocial assistance outside office hours to residents of the southern Lapland wellbeing region and to persons staying in the area. Psychosocial aid consists of: urgent social work and provision of acute mental first aid in crisis situations. In your work you will: receive notifications under the Child Welfare Act and Social Welfare Act; provide guidance and counseling to clients; conduct home visits in pairs; make entries in the Saga unified client information system of the wellbeing region; make decisions in urgent and demanding situations. The southern service area social and crisis on-call unit operates outside office hours. The work is evening, night and weekend shifts. Working hours are 12-hour shifts according to local agreement. You may be required to be on call. Tasks are directed to the unit mainly via emergency dispatch and through government and client phone lines. We maintain close multi-agency cooperation with police, emergency medical services and rescue. The unit has its own car, and a driving license is required for the position. We value previous experience in social and crisis on-call work or broad experience in social work. Familiarity with child welfare social work and work experience are considered advantageous. In addition we value crisis work expertise and related training. The terms of employment are defined by the Sote agreement. The position’s salary is 4,514.02 €/month (+ 300 €/month availability allowance). A probationary period of up to six months may be applied. Before taking up the position, the selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as required by the act on the criminal background check for those working with children. We follow vaccination requirements in accordance with health and infectious disease laws. A security clearance will be conducted for permanent appointments.
