Kangasala Parish is seeking an Activity Coordinator for Older People. Kangasala Parish is seeking an Activity Coordinator for Older People for a new two-year fixed-term position. The aim is to explore and build new ways of engaging with older people and to strengthen their spiritual, social and community well-being. This is not a replacement for or a temporary filling-in of existing work. The position complements the parish’s current work for older people and introduces new forms of activity alongside it. The work is carried out within a Christian framework and in close cooperation with the parish’s different teams, volunteers and other partners. In the role, you will: - plan and deliver groups, events, excursions and other ways of bringing people together - meet older people in parish activities, at their homes and in care units - develop and test new forms of activity together with others - strengthen cooperation with volunteers and organisations working with older people - document and assess the approaches tested to support future planning. We are looking for a practical, self-starting person who takes initiative, puts plans into practice and encourages others to participate. The role calls for strong cooperation and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, and readiness to work in accordance with the Christian mission of the parish. We value experience in arranging groups or events, working with volunteers and cooperating with networks. We are not primarily seeking a care-work professional, but someone able to develop new kinds of parish activities for older people. Relevant education may be in the church, social, health or education sectors. Other education, expertise and work experience that support the role may also be considered. In short, we are looking for someone who will not stop at planning good activities, but will set about building them together with others. Kangasala is a large area, so you will need a car for the work. Please note that the role also includes evening and weekend work. Terms of employment The position is fixed-term for two years. Employment terms follow the Church’s collective agreement for clergy and employees. The position is in requirement group 501. The basic salary is €2,731.93 per month. A possible experience-based increment of €96.50–359.50 per month is also paid. General working time under KirVESTES applies. The position is subject to a probationary period. Further information and applying For further information, contact Leading Diaconal Officer Mirja-Leena Hirvonen on Monday 2 November 2026 from 13:00 to 15:00 or Wednesday 4 November 2026 from 13:00 to 15:00.
