Kotirauhasäätiö is a nonprofit 14-bed basic children’s home in Heinola, located by the Ruotsalainen Lake shore. We are looking for a nurse who wants to do meaningful work with children and youths. Our daily values are safety, trust, and genuine engagement with children. The work is a three-shift schedule including morning, evening and night shifts as well as weekend work. Learn more about our values at www.lastenkoti.fi. This is not a traditional nursing position. Kotirauha is a peaceful unit with relatively few nursing needs; the nurse here primarily participates in the everyday life of children and the multidisciplinary care and education team. Your duties will include caring for children, guiding and listening, cooking, keeping the home, transporting with a car for activities, and being present in daily situations. Sometimes the most important thing is to sit beside the child, listen, and be there. Responsibilities include ensuring colleagues’ medication administration competence, receiving medication administrations, and updating the medication care plan with your supervisor. As part of the care team you also handle medication deviations and contribute to developing safe medication practices. You will not face these issues alone. Your teammate will be an experienced practical nurse, and you will be supported by a multidisciplinary work community. If this sounds like you, are you warm, calm, approachable, and able to meet a child from their own starting point? Do you value the child’s vulnerable life situation and want to build trust even when it does not come instantly? Can you maintain safe boundaries in a gentle and consistent way and see the underlying behavior behind challenging actions? Are you proactive, warm, and a good team player? What we offer: a warm, professional work community where nobody is left alone; strong onboarding, regular supervision, and opportunities to develop your own skills through training. We provide flexible shift planning, local occupational health services, and paid recreation and wellbeing days. On-site gym and a private beach also support your wellbeing. We follow the private social services collective agreement. Interviews will be held during the application period, and the position can be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is found. The selected applicant must present a criminal record extract in accordance with the Act on Background Checks for those working with children (504/2002) before starting employment. A valid category B driver's license and willingness to drive as part of duties are required. Six-month probation applies.
