Avalon's youth home units are specialised child protection units for children in need of foster care. The units are mainly for 13-17-year-olds with drug and life-management challenges. Placements are mainly long-term, and during placement the youth's life situation is assessed holistically and an appropriate rehabilitation plan is built for them. In Avalon’s client guidance process we pay special attention to the youth’s own motivation and commitment to rehabilitation. At Avalon we avoid confrontations with the youths, and all Avalon youths are coachable and cooperative. Youths placed in Avalon have a high success rate of returning to life and most return to their families. Violence or threat of violence is not part of our everyday life, and we work hard to maintain a positive atmosphere. We are now seeking a Responsible Nurse for the Heinola unit in a permanent employment. The workgroup consists of seven caregivers plus a strong support from the educational director who is involved in daily work. Avalon is a domestically owned private company, with two owners closely involved in daily unit operations. The Nurse is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating the seven-placement unit’s medication management. You will be responsible for the unit’s medication care plan and the nurses’ medication licensing in collaboration with the pharmacist and the doctor. The nurse’s duties include evaluating and coordinating youth health care and specialised care needs and participating in care meetings and doctor visits. The nurse also participates in the assistant’s work, which includes education, assessment, self-guided work, family work, documentation and liaison with various collaborators and youth networks. The role requires respectful conduct toward youths and families, good written and spoken Finnish, as well as a driving license and driving skills. Qualifications: Health sector AMK degree, nurse or health nurse.
