Licensing Officer · On-Site Licensing Compliance Officer 📍 Oxfordshire 💷 Competitive Hourly Rate 📅 Contract / Interim Opportunity 🏢 Local Authority We are currently recruiting for an experienced Licensing Compliance Officer to join a well-established Local Authority in Oxfordshire. This is an exciting opportunity for a knowledgeable licensing professional with experience in compliance, enforcement, and regulatory services. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring businesses and licence holders operate in accordance with the Licensing Act 2003, supporting the promotion of the four licensing objectives: The prevention of crime and disorder Public safety The prevention of public nuisance The protection of children from harm Key Responsibilities Investigate complaints and allegations relating to licensed premises and activities regulated under the Licensing Act 2003. Carry out inspections and compliance visits to licensed premises, including pubs, bars, restaurants, late-night venues, and temporary event locations. Monitor compliance with premises licence conditions and undertake enforcement action where appropriate. Prepare evidence, witness statements, and case files to support reviews, hearings, and legal proceedings. Provide advice and guidance to licence holders, applicants, responsible authorities, and members of the public regarding licensing legislation and best practice. Liaise with Police, Environmental Health, Trading Standards, and other partner agencies to promote compliance and safeguard local communities. Support the administration and enforcement of premises licences, club premises certificates, Temporary Event Notices (TENs), and personal licences. Requirements Previous experience working within a Local Authority Licensing or Regulatory Services environment. Strong working knowledge of the Licensing Act 2003 and associated legislation, guidance, and enforcement procedures. Experience conducting investigations, compliance inspections, and preparing reports for committee hearings. Ability to interpret legislation and provide practical regulatory advice. Excellent communication, negotiation, and case management skills. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.
