About the role

We are seeking a nurse for the Developmental Psychiatry unit in Kerava/Helsinki. The unit will move to the new Laakso joint hospital in Helsinki in spring 2027. Do you want to work in the field of developmental medicine as part of a tight multidisciplinary work community? Do you want to be involved in transferring and developing operations in the new hospital? We are currently looking for a nurse for a permanent position in the HUS Developmental Psychiatry ward in Kerava. The unit will move to the new Laakso joint hospital in Helsinki in spring 2027. The work is two-shift. The position starts by agreement. The Developmental Psychiatry ward in Kerava is a demanding multidisciplinary support unit under the Act on Social Welfare and Health Care. In our ward we conduct developmental psychiatric research and treatment periods as well as compulsory special care under the Act. The job is varied, so you can be a novice or an experienced colleague – you will deepen your expertise with us. In this role you will, with the care team, consider meeting diagnostic criteria, draft different assessments, try and develop different operating models for daily life of patients with challenging behavior. As a nurse you will walk beside the patient for the entire ward period, conduct evaluations of treatment effectiveness, plan further care and maintain contact with the patient’s network. Our task is to find workable solutions to the patient’s difficult life situation and assess the patient’s needs so that the patient can return to their own living environment. Patients receive individualized care from us around the clock. We expect you to have good communication and teamwork skills, the ability to treat each patient with respect and individuality, stress tolerance and the ability to act in different situations, experience in developmental disability or autism work is an advantage, and an interest in developing your own and the work community’s operations. We require vaccination against infections under the Infectious Diseases Act and a health statement for work in health care units. The selected person must present a criminal record extract in accordance with the Act on Verification of Criminal Background for Health and Social Care Services.
