Leisure Activities Assistant

We are seeking a leisure activities assistant for the cultural activities at Koskela Senior Centre. Are you interested in working with older people? In a multidisciplinary workplace, you will work alongside the cultural activities instructor to make a varied everyday life possible for residents. Your duties may include arranging small-group activities, enabling residents to spend time outdoors, socialising and baking with residents. The cultural activities instructor organises the centre’s large shared events, and you will be strongly involved in arranging them. Music is often part of our residents’ daily lives, so it is an advantage if you enjoy singing or play an instrument. The work involves a lot of standing and requires lifting items, bending and reaching. You will take many steps during the day. You must also be able to push our clients in wheelchairs both indoors and outdoors. We have a friendly team that welcomes you! We hope you are motivated to do meaningful work with our older residents who need special support. We will begin interviews during the application period. Qualification requirement: Good spoken and satisfactory written Finnish is required. The position requires vaccination protection under section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act and a tuberculosis assessment under section 55. Applicants must present a criminal-record extract required for people working with older persons (Act on the Supervision of Social and Health Care, 741/2023, section 28). In addition, we require: You are an unemployed jobseeker living in Helsinki and meet one of the following conditions: - You are 15–24 years old. - You have turned 50. - You have not completed the matriculation examination, a qualification referred to in the Act on Vocational Education, or an equivalent foreign upper-secondary qualification. - You are eligible for an integration plan under the Act on the Promotion of Integration. - You have not been in paid employment during the previous six months. - As an unemployed jobseeker, your prospects of finding suitable work have substantially diminished because of a disability or illness. At least three years must have passed since the end of your previous wage-subsidised employment with the City of Helsinki before you can be employed by the city again with wage subsidy.
