Leisure Activities Assistant

We are looking for a leisure activities assistant for the Puistola service home in a wage-subsidised position. Together with a multidisciplinary team, your task is to enable a meaningful everyday life for our residents. Your duties include, for example, assisting residents with hobbies, meals and everyday mobility inside and outside the home; acting as an assistant instructor in small-group activities; accompanying residents to events in the home; going outdoors and socialising with residents; and assisting during meals. The leisure activities assistant also takes part in outings and helps with day activities and other everyday tasks at the home. The work also includes unloading deliveries into storage. The work involves a lot of standing and physical tasks, including lifting items, bending and reaching. You must also be able to push a wheelchair when accompanying clients outdoors. The position starts according to the wage subsidy decision and lasts seven months. In addition to interesting and varied work, we offer extensive training and development opportunities. Eligibility requirements: Sufficient spoken and written Finnish is required. Finnish is our working language, and we speak Finnish with residents and staff. The position requires vaccination protection in accordance with section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act and a tuberculosis assessment in accordance with section 55. Applicants must provide the criminal-record extract required for people working with older persons under section 28 of the Act on the Supervision of Social Welfare and Health Care (741/2023). In addition, you must be an unemployed jobseeker living in Helsinki and meet one of the following conditions: you are aged 15–24; you have turned 50; you have not completed the matriculation examination, a qualification referred to in the Act on Vocational Education, or an equivalent foreign upper-secondary qualification; you are eligible for an integration plan under the Act on the Promotion of Integration; you have not been in paid employment during the previous six months; or, as an unemployed jobseeker, your chances of finding suitable work have been substantially reduced because of a disability or illness. At least three years must have passed since the end of your previous wage-subsidised employment with the City of Helsinki before you can be employed by the city again with wage subsidy.
