We are a dispatch unit linked to the emergency call center, prepared for psychosocial support in major disasters. We collaborate closely with other authorities: police, emergency medical services, and the rescue department. We have regular supervision and opportunities for debriefing after stressful situations, plus support from a front-line supervisor. The crisis worker’s duties include working according to the acute crisis process and assessing the client’s need for continued support. The crisis worker operates in social crisis duty work in tandem with a social worker in all social work areas. The job requires the ability to respond quickly to changing situations and to prioritise tasks when needed. The crisis work carried out in social and crisis duty is free of charge for clients, providing urgent help around the clock for acute traumatic crises such as sudden deaths or suicides of relatives, fires, violent situations, or accidents. Discussions are offered to process the events and to assess the client’s need for further care. Our unit employs 16 social workers, eight crisis workers, two leading social workers, a leading crisis worker, a service unit chief and an office clerk. The work community has diverse expertise and experienced staff. Your supervisor is the leading crisis worker. The work is on a three-shift pattern including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. You are the person we are looking for if you are development-oriented, innovative, flexible and enthusiastic about on-call work. You do not necessarily need to be an expert in crisis work as long as you have the willingness to learn and take on the multi-faceted and changing nature of social and crisis duty work. Interviews are preliminarily planned for 17 September 2026. Workplace name and address: Western Uusimaa social and crisis duty, Vitikka 1 C, 02630, Espoo. Working hours: 38.25 hours per week. The position is permanent. Eligibility: The person must have the qualification defined in the Act on Social Welfare Professionals (817/2015) section 8. The role requires good interaction and collaboration skills, as well as fluency in Finnish spoken and written. The successful applicant must present a criminal record extract as per the Criminal Records Act. Random drug testing may be requested in accordance with the Western Uusimaa welfare area drug program. The applicant must consent to a security clearance under the Security Clearances Act. We value Swedish language skills, experience in social- and crisis duty work, crisis work training and interest in government social media communication. We are change-makers who renew what needs improvement and preserve what works, investing in each employee’s well-being and offering diverse benefits. We provide a lunch benefit and an annual budget of 300 euros to be used for culture, well-being, sport or travel passes. You will also have opportunities to develop your skills through Eduhouse and Oppiportti online training.
