Forensic Chemist

Are you precise, thorough, and a analytical problem-solver? You master chromatography and mass spectrometry both in theory and in practice. You enjoy developing effective analytical methods and you understand the importance of quality assurance. The Criminalistics Laboratory has a suitable position for you as a forensic chemist in narcotics and drug testing. The job includes maintenance, quality assurance, development, execution of laboratory analyses and reporting of results obtained with methods such as GC-MS, UHPLC-MS, HPLC. Additionally, you will be responsible for researching processes of subcontracted driving-under-the-influence studies and developing them with stakeholders, as well as ensuring the quality of investigations. The role also involves following and applying developments in the field, training, collaboration with stakeholders and international cooperation. We offer additional training for the chosen person if needed. There is occasional possibility of remote work (1–2 days per month). Our strategy emphasises the versatility of personnel in the Helsinki Police Department and the flexible use of resources according to operational needs. We require personnel to be flexible and ready to move between tasks within the agency as required.
