Ii is a vibrant municipality located north of Oulu, valuing education, culture and residents’ wellbeing. In our library and cultural services, several development projects are ongoing. The library and cultural director is the senior official responsible for the library and cultural services and oversees operations, finances and development. The unit includes library services, Taidekeskus KulttuuriKauppila and Ii’s local museum. You will lead your area’s staff and belong to the welfare services management team. Main duties include leading and developing library operations, promoting reading and literacy, developing cultural services, strengthening residents’ participation and community, project work and collaboration with associations, cultural networks and other partners. One major upcoming project is planning a new library and its building; the project planning is underway and the director will participate in design and implementation and influence what Ii’s future library will be like. Requirements include library and culture leadership expertise, management skills and interest in developing library and cultural services; experience in supervising/leading teams is valued. The position is full-time, starting 1 Nov 2026, permanent, with 36h15m per week and occasional evenings/weekends. Salary 4081.14 €/mo, terms per KVTES and six-month trial.
