Operator

As an Operator at Outokumpu in Westdorpe you will be responsible for setting up and operating the cut-to-length or slitting line. These lines process stainless steel into plates and strips according to customer specifications. You will ensure the line is properly configured, that the production runs smoothly, and that the end product meets our quality standards. Concrete duties include: preparing production orders and determining an efficient work sequence; correctly setting machines and parameters; operating and monitoring the production line; continuously checking the quality of the material; planning tool changes and performing them; carrying out first-line maintenance and addressing small faults; collaborating with technicians on larger technical faults; recording production data, downtimes and faults in the system; ensuring proper scrap separation; and ensuring a good handover to colleagues on the next shift. The role is based in the production environment in Westdorpe, working closely with other operators, line and team coordinators, technicians, forklift drivers and crane operators. You take responsibility for your line and are expected to think along and take action if something can be made more efficient; safety is always the top priority. You should enjoy being practical and technical, take responsibility for a production process, have technical insights and interest in machines and production, work accurately, cooperate well with colleagues, follow safety, quality, ARBO and environmental regulations, be willing to work in shifts and think about improvements. Experience in operator roles or technical production is welcome.
