Engineer

Hitachi Energy is hiring a Secondary Engineer for the Grid Integration business, based in Vaasa, Finland. The role sits within the Grid & Power Quality Solutions and Service team in Europe (HBUEU) and involves working on our substations for distribution and transmission grids. The position offers variety through an international project environment, with opportunities in design and engineering, research and development. Responsibilities can span whole secondary design processes from planning to delivery, including preparing design drawings, drafting construction documents, performing engineering calculations, and overseeing commissioning. You will apply your design expertise across projects domestically in Finland and internationally. You will prepare and review substation documentation such as single line diagrams, protection and interlocking diagrams, AC and DC drawings, calculations, control and protection panel drawings, IED configurations, cabling and BOMs; evaluate supplier proposals for suitability; provide technical support during pre-FAT and FAT stages; prepare project deliverables; participate in testing and commissioning; collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project integration; contribute to continuous improvement and a culture of safety and integrity. Requirements include a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, fluent English and Finnish or Swedish, proactivity, strong teamwork, willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally. Prior experience with high/medium voltage substations and design tools such as E3, AutoCAD, PCM600 is advantageous. The role is based in Vaasa with an office presence. Apply by 30 September 2026.
