About the role

Position of Chief of Emergency Medical Services in the Kainuu wellbeing services county. Are you the strong EMS professional and developing leader we are looking for? We are seeking a Chief of Emergency Medical Services for a versatile and responsible position in the Kainuu wellbeing services county, where you will influence the development of EMS services and daily operational efficiency across the region. Kainuu's EMS services operate as part of the health and medical care sector and the acute care service area, together with emergency services, the acute home hospital, and the situation center. EMS in Kainuu has eight stations and a staff of approximately 120 professionals. We operate on a multi-provider model: the wellbeing services county's own units provide advanced life support (ALS) EMS, and partners complement the service with basic life support (BLS) EMS. Together, we build a smooth, effective, and safe EMS service for the people of Kainuu. In your role as Chief of Emergency Medical Services, you will play a central role in the management and development of EMS. Your responsibilities include: - operational management of the EMS service and ensuring smooth operations - strategic planning and implementation of development - financial planning, monitoring, and evaluation of operational impact - stakeholder cooperation both regionally and within the northern YTA area - supervisory work and supporting the well-being of staff You will work in close cooperation with the chief physician of EMS, supervisors, and the service area manager of acute care, as well as maintain extensive cooperation with other wellbeing services counties, hospitals, and authorities. What we offer you: - a meaningful and impactful leadership role in a central service entity - the opportunity to develop EMS and influence the future of services - the support of an expert and committed work community - a versatile cooperation network and a vantage point for regional and national development - Kainuu's unique operating environment, where work and quality of life meet Requirements for the position: Eligibility requirement: - Legal authorization in accordance with the Act on Social Care Professionals (817/2015) or the Act on Health Care Professionals (559/1994) as required for social and health care positions - a suitable higher university degree, knowledge of the field, and leadership experience Additionally, we require: - ability to lead, develop, and cooperate in a goal-oriented manner - leadership studies (30 ECTS) We value: - a coaching and development-oriented leadership approach - a working method that promotes staff well-being A security clearance will be conducted for the selected person, and the selection is conditional upon a satisfactory result. In the selection, we emphasize overall assessment and suitability for the position. Applications are accepted via Kuntarekry. Probationary period 6 months. Priority will be given to employees of the Kainuu wellbeing services county who are under threat of termination, provided they meet the eligibility requirements for the position. Before the selection is confirmed, the selected person must present a health certificate. Employees may be tested for narcotics.
