Welcome to work at Symppis! Day center Symppis offers an excellent vantage point and platform to work actively with people using substances and the opportunity to help them with various issues related to life management. The content and atmosphere of the days vary, keeping interest comfortably high. Symppikset are low-threshold day centers for adult substance users. It is permitted to visit and stay in the units while intoxicated. The operation is partially anonymous. The primary task of Symppis is to reduce the harms resulting from substance use and to strengthen the participation and improve the quality of life of the visitors. Symppis implements day center activities according to the Social Welfare Act and health counseling according to the Health Care Act. The duties of a social instructor include, in addition to respectful encounters with clients, helping clients apply for social benefits they are entitled to, solving problem points related to housing, diverse network work, and the daily coordination of employment measures. Neighborhood work based on the residential area is carried out and developed at Symppis together with peers and residents and operators of the nearby area. The main focus of neighborhood work is to maintain the cleanliness of Symppis and the surrounding areas and to increase urban safety. Close cooperation is carried out with various operators, local entrepreneurs, authorities, and networks. Supporting you at Symppis is a multidisciplinary team consisting of nurses, practical nurses, social instructors, and a doctor, as well as a group of employed people and peers. The immediate supervisors are the head nurse and the leading social instructor. The fixed-term position currently being recruited is primarily located in Symppis's outreach work. The City of Helsinki has confirmed outreach substance abuse work on a fixed-term basis. Employment contracts are made with Symppis, which enables flexible mobility of staff between different locations (Itis, Sörkka, mobile Symppis). Eligibility requirement: A university of applied sciences degree suitable for the social field (sosionomi, geronomi, or rehabilitation instructor) in accordance with the Social Welfare Professional Act 817/2015 (Section 8). Registration in the professional register of the License and Supervision Authority (formerly Valvira) is required for the position. Language skill requirement is good oral and satisfactory written skill in Finnish. Before the selection decision, the applicant must present an occupational health care assessment of their ability to perform the tasks included in the work. Vaccination protection according to Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act is required in the position. In addition, we require 1-5 years of work experience in the social field, as well as experience in substance abuse work and an understanding of harm-reduction substance abuse work. We consider as an advantage: experience in social guidance, experience in outreach work, knowledge of recovery orientation.

Requirements
