We are seeking a proactive and bold school chaplain for a multi-professional field. The position is located at vocational schools in Vantaa: Varia and Mercuria, where you will work alongside the school chaplain. Vantaa Vocational College Varia offers practical vocational education at four campuses around Vantaa. Mercuria provides business education. At Laurea and Metropolia universities of applied sciences, another school chaplain works. School staff in Vantaa are part of the joint parish education team. The school chaplain’s core tasks are to support students’ wellbeing, build community, and realise the church’s presence in everyday school life. The chaplain collaborates broadly with schools, student welfare services, and other networks. You will meet students and staff in diverse communities, work with individuals and groups, be proactive, networked, and cooperative, and engage with daily life in the schools. You will work in multicultural and multi-faith environments and recognize issues related to student wellbeing, promoting community wellbeing. You respect each person’s beliefs and work with people from various backgrounds. Requirements include a suitable higher education degree and ordination as a priest, excellent Finnish and adequate Swedish language skills (spoken and written), and confirmed membership in the Evangelical Lutheran Church. We value prior training and experience in pastoral care and crisis work, experience with youth, confirmation classes, teaching or school-work, ability to operate on multiple online platforms and communication/media skills, and willingness to develop school-work. English skills are also beneficial in a multicultural environment. The role is permanent with a six-month trial period. Salary follows the church’s general pay scale group 602 with a base pay of 3912.00 EUR per month, plus possible experience-based pay as Kirvestesin (140.50–513.50 EUR/month).
