Canal and Bridge Operations Operator

We are looking for a motivated and responsible operator to join our team in eastern Finland. The work is connected to the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency's contract for operating and maintaining the canals on the Heinävesi and Tahko routes, as well as the Varistaipale and Taivallahti canals and movable bridges. The employment base is in Joensuu. The work location depends on the work site and during the navigation season is mainly at Varistaipale Canal in Heinävesi. Your duties include, among other things: • Operating canals and swing bridges, including lock operations and opening bridges, and monitoring self-service lock operations at self-service canals during the navigation season (31 May–31 October). • Maintenance and upkeep of the canals, swing bridge and their surroundings. • Other electrical and mechanical installation work outside the navigation season. We require: • Relevant education and five years of work experience in operating and monitoring remotely controlled machinery through a camera connection (at least three months of full-time work in the relevant duties each year); OR • A vocational qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering and three years of work experience in operating and monitoring remotely controlled machinery through a camera connection (at least three months of full-time work in the relevant duties each year). • A coastal skipper's radio certificate (SRC). • Willingness to travel. • Ability to work independently and take responsibility. • Fluency in Finnish. • A category B driving licence.
