About the role

We are seeking a permanent Early Childhood Education Teacher for Maittorpan Daycare in Vantaa to start on 1 September 2026 or by agreement. The day care unit serves four groups of children and engages in active outdoor activities including visits to nearby playgrounds and forest trips. The facilities support strong small-group activities in line with the early childhood education plan. The unit participates in ProVaka, a model based on positive behavior reinforcement, where adults model the desired conduct and foster inclusive environments that develop social skills and consistent guidance approaches. We offer comprehensive onboarding and a mentoring program, and two broad-scope special education teachers assist and support you, particularly on child-support matters, working with groups on their own schedules. Our developmental sociable environment includes a developmental specialist and a dedicated culture-creating role to support collaboration with families. You will work in a positive, relaxed atmosphere with passion and professionalism. A full Sak day is planned for every team member, and once a week all teachers share Sak time during the day. We expect you to enjoy working positively with groups of young children, embrace multilingualism, inclusivity, and active pedagogy, and use imagery to support communication. You will lead your own team and work to support both the team’s functioning and the children’s growth and well-being. We value a proactive, solution-oriented mindset and teamwork. Applications are welcome during the recruitment period; interviews may be conducted by video; the process may start before the deadline, and applicants who are about to graduate will be considered. If a suitable candidate is not found, the position may be filled temporarily by an ineligible applicant. Why Vantaa? We are an open, supportive employer with a wide multidisciplinary network and opportunities for career development, including mentorship, training budgets, and a flexible, equitable work environment. We offer a range of personnel benefits including sport and culture allowances, a lunch benefit, and commuting support; we also subsidize activities such as swimming, gym access, and group exercise, and occasional discounted tickets to cultural events. Moving allowances are offered to those moving to Vantaa from other municipalities, with terms applied after a six-month trial period. The post is full-time and permanent, with a 38h15m work week. The job requires the credentials described by the Varhaiskasvatuksen kelpoisuus and follows the Kunnallinen opetushenkilöstön virka- ja työehtosopimuksen (OVTES). To apply, submit via the municipal recruitment system; the application window is 21.08.2026 12:00 – 04.09.2026 16:00. Contact the day-care principal for more information.
