Health Inspector

We are seeking a Health Inspector for a permanent position starting 1 December 2026. The role covers statutory tasks within environmental health monitoring across the Turku city area. The Environmental Health staff currently consists of 25 people. The position mainly involves supervision under the Food Act, with other regulatory, supervisory and expert tasks related to environmental health monitoring as appropriate. The Health Inspector also provides guidance and counseling on environmental health matters and prepares decisions, opinions, and matters to be dealt with by the municipal board. Qualification requirements follow the Food Act (297/2021) §32 and the Health Protection Act (763/1994) §7. Successful performance requires excellent Finnish and English language skills and satisfactory Swedish, IT skills, readiness to make decisions and the ability to work actively both independently and in a team. We expect good interpersonal skills, proactive approach, and the ability to work independently. Our strengths include responsibility, cooperation and a positive attitude. Previous experience in food safety/health protection supervision or similar tasks and knowledge of municipal administration are valued. The role requires a car and a driving license. A six-month probationary period applies. The appointee must present a health certificate issued by Western Coastal Occupational Health before assuming the post. Salary is €3,836.66 per month. Terms of employment and wages are determined according to the municipal sector collective agreement. The job is multi-site with the possibility for flexible remote work. Start date 1 December 2026 or as agreed.
