Chief Physician

The Infection Control Unit provides consultation on infectious diseases to all operators within the wellbeing services county, both in primary health care and specialized medical care throughout the region. Patients requiring the special expertise of an infectious disease physician are treated at the infection clinic. Your duties will include the responsibilities of a chief physician of infectious diseases, such as responding to infection-related referrals and conducting the infection clinic, providing consultation services across all specialties, and drafting hospital hygiene guidelines. 50% of the working time is spent in the Infection Control Unit and 50% in the Internal Medicine Unit, caring for internal medicine patients in the intensive care ward. Additionally, the job description includes guiding hospital hygiene activities and providing infection-related training for professionals. The position includes on-call duties for internal medicine. Eligibility for the position requires legalization or a permit to act in the duties of a physician as stipulated in the Act on Health Care Professionals (559/1994), as well as a specialist degree in internal medicine and infectious diseases. We value work experience, good cooperation and interaction skills, and a positive attitude toward development. Good oral and written proficiency in Finnish is required. Additional information: - We hope that you can start in the position from September 2, 2026. We can also mutually agree on the start date. - The work is full-time and the position includes back-up on-call duties for internal medicine. - A probationary period applies to the employment relationship. - You must provide the required certificates regarding your health status within one month of accepting the position, and a pre-employment medical examination will be conducted by our occupational health services. - When working in a hospital environment, you must have valid vaccination protection in accordance with Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act (1227/2016) and a tuberculosis screening of the respiratory system in accordance with Section 55. The position-specific salary at the start of employment is 7170€/month; the starting salary is determined based on the selected person's work experience and education.
