Nature Conservation Officer

The Southwestern Finland Centre of Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centre) seeks a temporary Nature Conservation Expert for the Priodiversity LIFE project. The centre participates in the Priodiversity LIFE project led by Metsähallitus together with the Internal Finland, South-East Finland, Northern Finland, and Eastern Finland and Lapland Centres of vitality. The project implements prioritized actions to achieve Finland's biodiversity targets, strengthens collaboration networks and expertise in biodiversity matters through training networks and broad training, restores degraded habitats on protected areas and their buffers, strengthens ecological networks with biodiversity-related action plans and by developing the Metso program, and develops information management and procurement while activating biodiversity funding. The expert employed by the Southwestern Finland Centre of Economic Development, Transport and the Environment will plan the care of habitats included in the Helmi habitat programme and related landowner and stakeholder cooperation in the Varsinais-Suomi and Satakunta regions. The expert is responsible for procuring and placing restoration actions, including drafting procurement documents, and for supervising and guiding restoration contracts. The main focus is on traditional biotopes and wooded habitats, but other habitat restorations are also performed. The expert will also participate in preparing the LUMO programs for the Varsinais-Suomi and Satakunta regions. Collaboration with project partners and technical monitoring of maintenance work are essential parts of the role. The position is located in Turku or Pori. Partial remote work is possible.
