Mechanical Design Team Leader

We are looking for a Team Leader in Vantaa to lead our mechanical design team. You will be responsible for the team’s work, development and success, ensuring that we deliver high-quality solutions to our customers on time. You will work actively with customers, develop customer relationships and identify new business opportunities. At the same time, you will develop the team’s expertise and ensure it can respond to our customers’ changing needs. The role combines people management with hands-on design work. You will lead your team towards shared goals while taking responsibility for your own design assignments and participating in solving the most technically demanding challenges. Your responsibilities: - Lead the mechanical design team: set direction, prioritise work and ensure the team achieves its goals. - Contribute to technical solutions and solve the team’s most demanding design questions together with its members. - Ensure the quality and reliability of the team’s delivery. - Grow the team by taking part in recruitment, onboarding and resourcing together with managers and sales. - Develop the team’s expertise and ways of working. - Work actively with customers: understand their needs, estimate workloads and build trust over the long term. - Collaborate with other teams and design disciplines on broader projects. What we expect from you: - Strong mechanical design experience and the ability to deliver design assignments independently. - Experience leading a team, project or design group. - Understanding of design for manufacturability: the basics of machining, welding, sheet-metal work and joining, as well as material and component selection. - An engineering or Master of Science in Technology degree in a relevant field, such as mechanical engineering. - Proficiency in a 3D design software package and an understanding of PDM/PLM systems. - A natural way of working with different design disciplines, such as technical calculation, electrical and automation engineering, software engineering, testing and technical product information. - Fluent spoken and written Finnish and English.
